Andy Stallman
Andy's favorite way of defining himself was that he was an iconoclast. Besides
being brilliant at business; he was a generous man who had
a soft heart for the homeless and animals. He always kept
money in his pockets to hand out to those in need. He was
completely driven and serious and could also be downright goofy
around friends. Eccentric was another wonderful way
of describing him. He loved to watch people and see their
reactions when confronted with something out of the norm. He
was absolutely a student of human behavior.
Andy was a self-effacing type guy but we think it’s important for Healing HEART Sanctuary (HHS) supporters to know the full range of who Andy was. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors in History from State University of New York and he was the Captain of the Debate Team; received his M.B.A. in 1982 from the Harvard Graduate School of Business. Prior to opening Stallman Management and Associates in 1986, Andy worked for Lehman Brothers, Steinhardt Partners; and while at Soros Fund Management Company, Andy was one of three Portfolio Managers of the Quantum Fund with $1 billion in assets. Since the early-80s Andy had a specialization and concentration in both the technology and transportation fields.
A self-made man, Andy was very excited that his dream of having a place that would help animals and where he could visit animals was finally coming true. His vision was to fund the initial start-up years to provide HHS with the solid foundation it needed for long-term growth. Sadly, he would never get to see the land and Healing HEART Sanctuary begin, at least not from this vantage point, as he passed away just one day into escrow on the Kanab property.
The land itself is named Andy’s Ranch in his honor. Loyal,
even to a fault, with his friends and loved ones. And the private
foundation Andy established many years ago continues to contribute
to Healing HEART Sanctuary.
In honor of Andy, the monthly
donor membership group has been named after “Andy’s
Friends”.
It seems fitting that Andy continues to help drive the funding
for the sanctuary he was so committed to.
