Fluffy: Mr. Personality

Fluffy was the most beautiful and friendliest Scarlet Chested Grasskeet in the world. He was another Founder of Healing HEART Sanctuary (HHS) coming with Executive Director Laura Bradshaw at its inception. In fact, Laura had known Fluffy when he was just an egg. His name came from a really bad TV commercial playing at the time of his birth where two guys were trying to make the word “fluffy” sound manly and macho. What were we thinking!

Fluffy wore his name well and proudly, no matter its origin. He loved to meet and delight people everywhere he went. He loves to give kisses and regurgitate in your ear, which is quite the compliment in the bird world.

Fluffy was not afraid of cats at all as he was raised with cats who tolerated his standing on them and grooming them. In fact Laura would tell you the cats even liked it, but they’d never admit it. He even became an integral part of therapy for a kitten named Fanny.

At first Fluffy was more than happy to help this kitten learn to walk and run again and he would entice her to make it across the room by hopping and jumping. It was like he was saying, “Come on, you can make it!” and she would. As she got better and was running and jumping (thanks to Fluffy no less), Fanny began to scare him and we had to move him upstairs. It became apparent over time that he was very uncomfortable with the idea that a cat would actually eat him, something he’s never experienced before. He also was craving more attention and with new injured animals coming in on and off all the time, the best thing HHS could do for him was find him a home where he would be the center of attention, and a house with no cats.

Laura finally found the perfect home, one close enough where she could visit too. She’s glad to say Fluffy continues to thrive in his forever home.
