Tigaroo: She Lightning

Tigaroo was an amazing feral kitty that had been hit by a car in Los Angeles, California. She got her name by combining Tigger and Roo from Winnie the Pooh.

She had such a bouncy personality plus. Because her back legs were not working, she used her tail like a kangaroo. She was also the fastest kitty on two legs and one tail!

When she first came to Healing HEART Sanctuary (HHS) she was very sick and very broken. Having grown up on the streets of Los Angeles fending for herself, she was said to be the fastest feral in the area. One day, however, she was not faster than a car and became paralyzed. It still took the locals a while to catch her. She was at a rescue in Los Angeles that wasn’t exactly sure what to do to help her.

At HHS she learned, with the help of Fanny, to calm down and let people get close to her. Fanny would bathe her each day allowing us to administer her “sub q” fluids. Because her legs were not moving and her tail had fused in an odd way, allowing her to use it like a kangaroo, she had sores from scooting that needed to be dressed daily. She eventually allowed us to put little infant socks on her legs to help; lilac was her best color.

Sadly, some of her injuries from Los Angeles finally overcame her and in 2005 she passed over to the Rainbow Bridge. She was such an inspiration showing us at HHS to take whatever is given to you and run with it, literally, no matter what. She will never be forgotten.
